此曲為美國鄉村歌手Don Williams ( 這位老兄可不得了，自1974至1991期間共有46首單曲，其中只有4首未在排行榜前10名。)與Bob McDill ( 這位老兄也是位鬼才，從1967至2000，自己或與人合作，共寫出31首鄉村冠軍曲。)所合寫，首由鄉村女歌手Lynn Anderson於1974錄唱發行，之後也有幾位歌手包含Tammy Wynette、Stella Parton等翻唱。

Stella Parton是超級鄉村女歌手Dolly Parton的妹妹 ( Parton家共有12位兄弟姊妹，Dolly排行第4，Stella排行第6。)，但在歌唱事業上的成就，與姊姊Dolly相去甚遠，Stella最佳的排行榜成績是1975的《I Want to Hold You in My Dreams Tonight》，僅獲得第9名。此首1977的單曲，則是第60名。

歌曲的主角自認不擅長於分手的道別，對方既然決心要走，再多說也無益。情人分手的確是門學問，之前過多的甜言蜜語、承諾或是金錢財務糾葛，常會難以善了。
