1976 - 1978，美國歌手Tom Fogerty參加了搖滾樂團Ruby，期間參與了兩張專輯的發行。1988，Tom遇到了舊時Ruby的團員Randy Oda，兩人合作完成了一張專輯《SideKicks》，但所屬的唱片公司Fantasy決定暫不發行。1990，Tom因肺結核過世 (48歲)，之後專輯在1992才問世，當然就是Tom最後的遺世作品，而此首《Sometimes》也收錄在該專輯中。

歌曲講述的是主角懷念的60年代，其中提到伊朗和尼加拉瓜，當時都爆發推翻統治者的革命運動，以及毒品( Coke )問題，然後就是舉「和平牌子」的反戰浪潮。此曲對台長來說頗有感觸，而台長懷念的卻是成長的50年代，雖然當時物資貧乏、生計艱辛，但人際間的互動反較為親密，在精神上相對富足，從未聞有罹患「憂鬱症」什麼的，尤其是自然環境幾未受到汙染、破壞，反而成為許多現代人想追求的「幸福樂園 」  ( 像是「不丹 」？)，而就如同Tom說的，這一些都回不去了。

Tom Fogerty原為CCR ( 清水合唱團 ) 的成員，但受到一切均由弟弟John Fogerty主導的壓抑，1970年底，CCR的專輯還賣得相當不錯，Tom卻仍執意退團成為獨唱歌手。而由他之後的發展表現，坦白說，無論是寫歌、吉他彈奏及演唱，均較弟弟John相去甚遠，終究未能如自己預期大放異彩。更不幸的是曾因背部開刀，輸了未經篩檢的血液而得到愛滋病，也是促成其早逝的因素。

之前貼過Tom的一首《Joyful Resurrection / 喜樂復活》 ( 亂談832 )，有原CCR歌曲的味道 ( 原CCR的Bass手在此曲中擔任主奏吉他手 )，但並未介紹歌曲內容，在基督教中，「喜樂」與「復活」密切相關，尤其是耶穌基督的復活，是基督教信仰的核心，帶來救贖和永生的盼望，並激發信徒內心的喜樂。感覺Tom的這一生有點像是個悲劇人物，由此曲，盼其來生能得其所願。
