美國歌手Joe Ely於1972與另兩位朋友共組三人樂團The Flatlanders，但卻於1973即解散各奔前程，而此曲即為昔日夥伴之一的Butch Hancock所寫，由Joe Ely於1977首錄發行，而並未能入榜。( 註 : The Flatlanders於1998又再合體迄今。)

1990，Texas Tornados樂團翻唱此曲，這當然和樂團部分團員與Joe Ely等人另組成的七人超級樂團Los Super Seven 有關。看Joe Ely在樂壇奮鬥了數十年，也僅在參與Los Super Seven時出的一張同名專輯獲得了一座「最佳墨西哥 / 墨–美專輯」的葛萊美獎，應該有沾了些Tornados夥伴的光。

由歌詞開始的鋪陳至「She said if you're from Texas, son，Where's your boots and where's your gun？I smilled and said :  I got guns that no one can see」，很難不令人解讀歌曲中的場景像是在情色場所 ( 哈哈，或許是台長想多了 )，西班牙語是墨西哥的官方語言，房間中的女子不願使用西班牙語不知是何隱喻？是想掩飾自己身份的難堪？ 感覺Joe Ely還滿喜歡這首歌的，1995，他又發行了一首《She Finally Spoke Spanish to Me》，但並非上首歌的接續，雖然女子最後還是說了西班牙語，但僅是一個字 -- Adios ( 再見 )。
