此曲是美國鄉村歌手Conway Twitty自其1975的同名專輯另發行的單曲，在鄉村榜奪得第1名的佳績，也是Conway個人第12首的冠軍曲。Conway一生共有55首的鄉村冠軍曲，為歷來鄉村歌手的第2名，僅次於George Strait的60首。

其實這是首有「心靈出軌」道德爭議的歌曲，一邊和一位女子睡覺，但心中所想的卻是另一位女子Linda。歌曲推出後，眾粉絲們不斷地追問Linda是誰？而Conway則故作神秘、從未直接回答，他很清楚，愈是有話題性，愈有助於歌曲熱度的推升。有人批判他，他反駁說這是許多已婚男人常會發生的現象，而且他並未用粗俗不堪的方式來表達，鄉村歌曲中包含有「性」成分的也比比皆是。

兩年後，歌曲作者Gene Hood對Conway提出訴訟，宣稱《Linda on My Mind》部分引用了他的歌曲《Too Much of You》( 為 Lynn Aderson 1967的歌曲 )，Conway最終贏得了這場官司，但訴訟耗時4年，而兩首歌曲的旋律確實非常地相似。
