美國女子搖滾樂團The Bangles ( 手鐲 )於1980在洛杉磯成立，最初的成員為Susanna Hoffs與Vicki & Debbi Peterson這對姐妹花，之 後才有Bass手的加入。

出了幾首單曲和一張迷你專輯 ( EP ) 之後，至1984，The Bangles終於發行了一張完整的專題《All Over The Place》，其中的《Hero Takes a Fall》以及翻唱自Katrina and the Waves的《Going Down To Liverpool》，都得到不錯的評價，尤其是後者的音樂影帶，由在《星艦迷航記》中飾演史巴克的Leonard Nimoy為之跨刀演出 ( 緣由是Hoffs和Nimoy兩家為朋友關係 )。這些引起了知名歌手和音樂人Prince ( 王子 ) 的注意，而主動連繫The Bangles，並說要提供歌曲給她們。

結果王子帶給The Bangles的就是此首《Manic Monday》。而此首歌原本是要給也是女子團體Apollonia 6的，甚至都已錄音完成，但在最後一刻，還是被王子給拉了下來。在寫歌界謠傳，王子提供此首歌給The Bangles，是為換得Susanna Hoffs「陪睡」的回報，但此謠傳當然未能獲得證實。依據「Who's Dated Who」網站的資料，Susanna Hoffs和王子在1986確實有交往過。2016，王子因過度使用亦會造成興奮的止痛藥Fentanyl ( 芬太奴 ) 而意外死亡，享年57歲。

此首《Manic Monday》收錄在The Bangles 的第2張專輯《Different Light》( 1986 ) 中，雖然此專輯在美國共有4首入榜歌曲，而《Manic Monday》在美、英均獲得第2名的佳績，應是The Bangles最為知名的代表作。
