丹佛沒有金塊 Denver, Colorado
跟各位深深一鞠躬
回國快要兩星期
我連行李都還沒整理完
所以一直沒有發新文章
其實對自己也很不好意思
沒想到很有熱忱做的事情
一回國和男友分開就什麼都不想做
I am so sorry that I failed my goal (one article per week)
and I didn't even finish unpacking my luggage...
though I do feel really bad that I didn't post anything for weeks.
but really don't feel like doing anything after me and Jason are apart, AGAIN.
今天提振精神來寫一篇~
就來寫我這次出國飛的機場(國際大城)--丹佛
I am going to try to write one today,
about the airport I flew in and out this summer--Denver
其實我發現很多台灣人根本沒聽過丹佛
(NBA球迷之外的都問我那是哪= =)
其實丹佛是國際城市，也是美國科羅拉多州最大的城市
因為緊鄰洛磯山脈，所以在山上雪還沒融完的季節真的超美~~~
I realized that there are so many of you (Taiwanese at most) do not know where is it
(NBA fans might be exception)
Denver is actually an international big city, also, the biggest one in Colorado.
it's close to Rocky Mountain, so it is really pretty when there are still some snow covered the mountains.
根據維基百科的資料
丹佛機場以土地面積來算可是全美最大的機場
and according to the data from wikipedia,
Denver International Airport is the biggest airport in America
那麼，丹佛有什麼好玩的呢??
so, what's fun in Denver??
首先，在我心目中排第一的絕對是丹佛動物園
the top one for me is no doubt Denver Zoo
丹佛動物園創立於1896年
雖然是公家所屬的動物園
但是門票價格可是高的有點讓人傻眼
有去過台北市立動物園的各位應該知道
成人票價也不超過50台幣
Denver Zoo was founded in 1896, it belongs to the city and the county,
but even though it is a public organization,
the admission for the zoo is totally freaks me out.
I guess it's because I only spend 1 USD to go to Taipei Zoo
而丹佛動物園的成人票價....要15 USD (將近450台幣)
如果你在關園前兩小時入園，票價折2 USD
如果考量動物照顧及研究等，也許這個價錢是值得的
但是跟台北那個親民的動物園相比
丹佛動物園真的讓人有點卻步
and I have to pay 15 USD for Denver Zoo
if you go there at 4pm, you get 2 dollars off (still expensive!)
but I guess it's worth it if you consider how much they have to spend on taking
care of all the animals, and do some research on them.
但是兩年來我去了大概超過五次
因為裡面有我最愛的北極熊~~
而且還兩隻!!!!!!
I still visited more than 5 times in 2 summers.
cuz I couldn't say no to my favorite animal--polar bear.
and they have TWO polar bears in Denver Zoo!!!!!
不知道為什麼美國動物園的孔雀很喜歡到處亂跑
在園中不時就會看到牠們大搖大擺從你面前穿過
For some reason, the peacocks in American zoo like to be all over the place
you will see them block your way in the zoo all the time...
不得不提的是丹佛動物園今年的小明星
雪豹寶寶~~
Denver Zoo has a new star this year,
a baby snow leopard <3<3
六月底去的時候雪豹寶寶還好小一隻跟小貓一樣
九月底去的時候她已經像加菲貓那麼胖了(誤)
she was just like a little kitty when I visited in June
and she almost looks like Garfield when I visited in late September.
and wow, she's really energetic~

丹佛動物園也致力於環保方面的能源利用
園中的垃圾桶有分可再生為能源到垃圾以及回收
還有美國綠色建築委員會頒發的白金認證喔!
Denver Zoo cares about the animals, and also the environment.
they separate the trash into 2 different type.
one of it can be reuse as fuel type energy.
it's definitely a green/ eco-friendly organization!
感覺台灣在這方面也應該有這個功能
雖然台灣人真的比多數美國人還環保
但是對於可以再燃再利用的垃圾可以輕易放過阿!!!!
I think most of the organizations in Taiwan can do that, too.
even though most of the Taiwanese care about recycling better than American,
it would be a smart move to start doing that for recyclable energy.
丹佛動物園感覺起來佔地並沒有木柵動物園廣
動物種類似乎也沒有台北多
但是北極熊太威了
不能比阿
(其實台灣的貓熊也很可愛，可是北極熊是我的最愛嘛~)
I have to say that I think Taipei Zoo is bigger than Denver Zoo,
and I think we have more variety of animals than Denver Zoo as well....
but polar bears take over the control of how much I like Denver Zoo lol
(Pandas are cute, though.....I just prefer polar bear)
如果你有一整天的時間，丹佛動物園不用一天就可以走完
what if you have all day to spend in Denver?
it won't take you that long in Denver Zoo.
Unless you are just like me that you are willing to sit there all day just to see
what surprise one kind of animal might give u.
(I wait there for hours for polar bears, that's how I get this surprise)

so what can you do if you are done in the zoo? where else can you go ?

你可以用走的到旁邊的自然科學博物館
(3-5分鐘)
congrats!! Denver Museum of Nature and Science is right next to the zoo
(about 3-5 mins walking distance from gate)
自然科學博物館很大
半天可能不夠ˊˋ
but the museum is quite big,
I am not sure how much you can see if u r in a rush.
如果你對展出品沒有興趣(或是覺得自己反正也看不懂解說)的話
可以跟我一樣買IMAX的票
挑一部比較有興趣的影片去看
看完出來後也可以看到部分展出品(一票兩用喔)
If you are not interest in those exhibition items,
you can get ticket for IMAX.
Pick one film you are interest in, and after the film, you can walk through all the exhibition.
其實我不知道那樣合不合法啦
有可能是因為我上次去的時候已經接近閉館時間
所以驗票沒有那麼嚴格......吧
I am not sure if you are really allow to do that tho.
Cuz last time I did that might b about time for them to close
so nobody stop me in the exhibition hall (since I only pay for the IMAX not the exhibition)
博物館上有個平台
指示標上說從那看出去，是丹佛最美的景色
there is a balcony in the museum says "the best view of Denver"
於是迫不及待衝上去
結果它指的"丹佛最美的景色"還真的是只有"丹佛".....
我還以為可以看到群山美景XD
so I hurried up there and it's literally the best view of "Denver"
it's the view of all those tall building in downtown Denver...
I was expecting to see majestic mountains and Denver
博物館裡還有號稱(因為我也無法查證)從月球來的一小個石塊還其他小隕石
而且會讓你摸!!!
對人類學，生物歷史等等有興趣的各位
這裡絕對可以滿足你
and there are some so-called meteorites from the moon
(I can't be sure if they are real or not)
and you are allow to touch it !!
so anyone who loves that kind of thing, this museum would be your paradise !!
說完了具有教育意義的景點
有沒有哪裡可以逛街??
enough with educational attractions??
wanna shop??
當然有囉
這種規模的大城
購物商場也是大到讓你腳會斷掉
Denver wouldn't let you down!

(平常在台北已經夠多地方可以買了)
所以這些地方我都指是去吃飯而已~~
I prefer nature scenery
(too civilized in Taipei lol)
so I didn't really shop there, only be there for food.
開在科羅拉多州的路上有一點真的很煩
一直有小圓環拿累的東西讓人開得暈頭轉向，不小心錯過出口又得再繞一圈....
one thing I really don't like about Colorado is the traffic circle...
it makes me dizzy. And you gonna make one more circle if you accidentally miss you exit.
每次開到丹佛的時候都會看到大型雲霄飛車
看起還就比台灣遊樂園刺激
(而且還位在公路旁，俯衝時看到高速公路這麼近也是另一種刺激感)
I saw big rides and roller coasters every time when we were in Denver
seems more exciting than those rides in Taiwan
prob also because it's right next to the highway, that makes it look even more exciting and dangerous !!!
但卡在票價一個人要一千台票....我卻步了
無法告訴大家這地方究竟好不好玩

of course I didn't bother to go because of the price
so I am sorry to tell you that I cannot share how fun it is with you.

原則上丹佛地區我去過的景點就這樣
最漂亮的點並不在丹佛
basically, that's all fun places in Denver (as far as I know for now)
and the most beautiful spot is not in Denver
去年因為時間有限但又很想去一探究竟
於是開往洛磯山脈國家公園
I didn't have much time, but still went to Rocky Mountain National Park last summer
(the federal government is still closed,
so you might can't see anything on the official website)
距離丹佛還有一個半小時車程
但是越接近山區
景色就越醉人
下次要挑戰在融雪之前去~
it's 1.5 hours away from Denver
在開往公園的路上千萬不要匆匆開過就算了
注意兩邊的山壁
有時候會有大驚喜喔!!
(不破梗 大家自行去發現)
make sure you are not just drive by quick on your way to the park,
keep your eyes on both side of the road,
you could be amazed !
我喜歡國家公園的最大原因
就是每次去每次看到的體驗到的都不同
從來沒失望過
the biggest reason why I love national parks is because they never let me down,
and they always surprise me!!
可惜的是這兩年都是夏天造訪科羅拉多州
沒有機會體驗這裡著名的滑雪名鎮
it's too bad that in the past 2 years,
I visited Colorado in summer,
didn't have a chance to experience skiing and those beautiful snow resorts
希望有機會可以跟大家分享冬天的景致 :)
hopefully I will have a chance to tell you how fun it is in winter :)
我知道這篇文章不如其他景點有趣或美麗
因為我每次到丹佛都得當天來回
下次會排多一點時間給科羅拉多州

I do know this article is not as interesting as some other I wrote,
because I never stay in Denver more than 12 hours..
I will try to make more time to discover more about this mega city next time~~
