Tire Technology of the Year 08

Michelin’s Energy Saver has been voted Tire Technology of the Year. Energy Saver is a tire that eliminates carbon black and creates a rolling resistance of 20%, due to a rubber compound based on a new generation of silica and a new mixing process. Collecting the award was Dr.Ing Joachim Neubauer of Michelin, who stated: “We are very proud to receive this award. This award represents the best technology of this year for Michelin. This award is a big honor for Michelin, and our tire will give savings for consumers in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by reducing rolling resistance.”

Jury member Guy Edington of Standards Testing Labs added: “Michelin has been in the vanguard of energy-saving technology for some time, and now it has borne fruit.”

Michelin’s rivals in a closely fought battle in this category were SRI’s ENASAVE 97, Yokohama’s Super Nanopower Rubber, and Bridgestone’s Cooling Fin technology for runflats.
