田納西華爾茲主唱人佩蒂佩吉去世 享年85歲

美國經典歌曲「田納西華爾茲」的主唱人「佩蒂佩姬」元旦在加州去世，享年85歲。 (謝佐人報導)

本名「克拉拉安•富勒」的「佩蒂佩姬」1927年出生在美國「奧克拉荷馬州」的窮人家，她因為在當地廣播電台演唱而被發掘，1947年，她與「水銀唱片公司」簽約，進而成為美國1950年代最成功的女性藝人，她低沉慵懶的歌聲如醇酒般醉人，她主唱的單曲「田納西華爾茲」不僅蟬連暢銷歌曲排行榜冠軍13周，同時也是20世紀，銷售量最高的單曲之一。

「佩蒂佩姬」縱橫歌壇超過一甲子，她的唱片銷售量累積突破一億張，她除了歌藝卓越外，她也參與電視電影演出，她是第一位在全美電視上有個人演唱節目的歌手，她也參與多部電影的演出，其中包括與「畢蘭卡斯特」一起同台拍攝「孽海痴魂」一片，1960年代，美國樂壇掀起搖滾熱，她的歌曲風格因此不再成為主流。

1999年，在她獻藝歌壇50年後，她榮獲第一座「葛萊美獎」，她原訂要出席下個月在「洛杉磯」舉行的「葛萊美獎」頒獎典禮，獲頒「終身成就獎」，但在元旦當天，她因充血性心臟衰竭，在南加州去世。 (中廣記者謝佐人在台北報導)
