老歌亂談(578)Gentle On My Mind
美國民謠、鄉村及藍草 ( bluegrass ) 編曲音樂家John Hartford，不僅擅長演奏小提琴及班鳩琴，同時也以寫詼諧的歌詞和獨特的唱腔著稱。John Hartford自陳寫這首《Gentle On My Mind》的靈感是來自於電影《齊瓦哥醫生》，而且是看完影片後在30分鐘內就完成了歌詞。1967，此曲隨著Hartford的第二張專輯《Earthwoeds & Music》一起推出，雖成績普普，卻引起了歌手Glen Campbell的注意。

Glen Campbell也在1967翻唱此曲，看來成績也不怎麼樣，在鄉村和熱門排行榜只分別為30及62名。但此曲在1968卻拿下了4座葛萊美獎：
Glen Campbell--「最佳鄉村男歌手」「最佳鄉村唱片」(共同製作人)
John Hartford --「最佳民謠歌手」「最佳鄉村歌曲」(寫作者)
Campbell的版本在電台播放超過5百萬次，他也將此曲用做他在電視的綜藝節目「The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour」的主題曲 ( 1969─1972 )。此曲其它的翻唱者包含有也是影星的Dean Martin、Patti Page、Aretha Franklin與眾多大牌歌手等。
2014，美國鄉村音樂團體The Band Perry，為Glen Campbell的紀實電影《Glen Campbell：I'll Be Me》錄唱此曲的電影原聲帶，該團體所詮釋的版本，在2015為他們奪得了一座「最佳鄉村二重唱或團體」的葛萊美獎。
有人認為，在所有翻唱此曲的女生中，無人能及Tammy Wynette。

男女版本都不錯!
但我喜歡男版的多一些
女版的歌聲乍聽以為是Skeeter Davis呢
就是唱世界末日的女歌手
好驚人也好羨慕! 半小時就能編寫好歌詞
想當年一首兒歌花了我老半天才寫好^^

對於寫詩或是寫歌詞的一些文藝創作者來說只要靈感一來
的確是可以在短時間一氣呵成
但通常也是在歌紅了之後才說出來炫耀的吧！
由於Skeeter Davis的《The End Of The World》太經典
我一直都沒想要貼 ( The Animals的《The House Of The Rising Sun》情況也是一樣 )
倒是有點想介紹她和Bobby Bare合唱的《A Dear John Letter》
想說現在的年輕人
